Paediatric Adenoid & Tonsil Surgery

Adenotonsillectomy is one of the most common surgeries for children, addressing breathing issues and frequent infections caused by enlarged tissues in the throat and nose.

  • Breathing Problems: Enlarged tonsils and adenoids are the leading cause of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) in children (snoring, restless sleep, daytime fatigue).

  • Recurrent Infections: Frequent, severe episodes of tonsillitis or chronic ear infections (glue ear) caused by blocked Eustachian tubes.

The surgery involves removing the adenoids (behind the nose) and/or tonsils (at the back of the throat) under general anaesthesia. The goal is to clear the airway and reduce the frequency of illness.

Children usually go home the same day and recover fully within 7 to 14 days. Proper pain management and a return to a normal diet quickly are essential for a smooth recovery.
